Miramichi Rock n Run

This past weekend I participated in my second timed race. It was technically my third 5k, but the Run or Dye run was not timed, and I wasn’t running it for time.

I consider myself a ‘beginner’ when it comes to running. My first 5k I finished in 37mins. I ran with my Fiance and there was a lot of walking breaks along the way. I was just trying to do my best and finish the 5k.

This time I ran it alone and I didn’t stop until I reached the 4km mark. Part of that is because there was a bridge that I had to run almost all the way across, and turn around to run back. I have a fear of bridges, especially when they are over water. I have a hard time even driving over them, let alone walking.

While on the bridge we had to run single file, and we were warned not to stop to tie our shoelaces. Wouldn’t you know it, on the way back off the bridge mine came untied. Perfect.

Anyways, I survived the bridge, tied my shoe and kept running.

I am very proud of how I did with this run and I can’t wait until the next one. I was able to shave 3 whole minutes off of my time! I ran 90% of the way which is awesome for me!

My Fiance said he was disappointed that he didn’t run it, so he will be running the next one. We will start training next week, after we all get some new running shoes!
