Taekwondo Martial Art

Sign up for a self-defence class it doesn’t matter what kind, it could be Taekwondo, it could be karate, because in my opinion every one should know how to defend themselves. Really, it’s only like an hour a day for a few days a week, so why not?

Taekwondo Martial Art

Here is my recommendation for a martial art; personally my family and I are part of C.W.I.O.T, (Chung Won institute of Taekwondo). I have been to Korea to compete and have earned a Second dan black belt. After over seven years of training I can disarm a knife with ease and break four inch thick mass of ten by twelve boards. I have the second highest tile break record for my Taekwondo club at nineteen, the average being about seven.

Taekwondo does far more than just test and perfect you physically. It also teaches you respect, honour, leadership, self-control, as well as helps you obtain great wisdom.

It’s not age or gender specific either. Take Grand Master Chung for example, he is around seventy and could still take down any U.F.C fighter, and our Master Colpitts could probably take out Chuck Norris with a glare.

Master Colpitts has picked me up and threw me during a knife self defence drill and I weigh in at over two hundred pounds. She is probably the strongest person I know, I swear I saw her break five inches of ten by twelve boards with a kick and that wasn’t even a challenge for her. I don’t think anyone with the misfortune of stacking her could stand up to more than one good strike from Master Colpitts.

I both respect and fear Master Colpitts and that is saying something because I am five foot eleven and just turned fourteen in June. Most of my friends thought I was scary, however the fact that she could snap me like a twig should tell you she is dangerous. Luckily she is humble and treats her students well, and if she doesn’t seem to tough to you, you must be a super saiyan god, because she could knock out Superman given a good reason.

Most people assume martial arts are just yelling and is very ineffective, but those people would be knocked out faster than they could throw a second punch, and really, are you going to join a military just to get combat training? I think not, especially if you happen to live in New Brunswick because just about every other community has a Taekwondo club, so they are in no short supply so sign up at any martial arts club. It doesn’t just have to be Taekwondo, although I can only vouch for my art, I’m sure Karate or judo would do just fine.
