I have already mapped out where my garden is going to go this spring. When we bought this house, I was so excited to start a garden, there is so much room, and so many possibilities! Spring seems like a long ways away though, so I am starting to grow some food indoors. This DIY Herb Garden is my first project!
I love this diy herb garden because it takes up very little space, but I was able to plant 5 different herbs. I will have a nice variety without it being in the way. I just sat it in front of a window and it doesn’t look out of place. It adds a bit of decoration and once the plants start growing it will look so pretty!
To make your own DIY Herb Garden like mine you will need:
- 4 Pots, ranging in sizes. You want to make sure you will be able to stack them and have lots of room for planting. I used clay pots from Walmart.
- A saucer or something to catch the water. I bought one to match the clay pots at Walmart.
- Seeds. It’s up to you what you want to use. I used Dill, Parsley, Oregano, Garlic Chives, and Basil.
It’s pretty self-explanatory at this point. Fill your largest pot with soil first, and place the next largest pot inside, pushing it as close to the back as possible. Add some seeds and cover. In the largest pot I split the space and planted two different herbs, in the other pots I planted just one type of seed.
You want to make sure you put the pot in the soil BEFORE adding your seeds so you know where to put the seeds! Repeat until all pots are filled with soil and seeds!
Keep your plants in a warm, sunny area. Make sure your soil stays damp!
For extra character, you can decorate your pots! I have one pot my little brother painted a few years ago and I’m going to find some ribbon to wrap around the large pot.
