What’s one thing you need for any weight loss or fitness plan to work? Motivation. What’s something you need for ANY long or short term goal? Motivation! According to a survey, 80% of people who set New Year’s Resolutions have already given up by February. That’s a HUGE amount or people who give up on there goals! Why do you think so many people give up?
Personally, I am not big on New Year’s Resolutions. They are often set quickly and you never end up doing any planning to make sure you are able to keep your resolutions. For example, you need to right down your goals, but you also need to think about how you can work them into your daily life. If you want to run a 5k, you have to make sure you have to time to commit to running. If you want to eat healthier, you have to commit to cooking more at home. Setting goals is all about planning, so you make sure your goals will fit into your lifestyle.
In theory, New Year’s Resolutions are a great idea, but if you don’t have the motivation to make them work and make a plan, then what’s the point?
This month we are going to work on motivation. I know we all have some kind of goal that we want to work on but just don’t know how, don’t have the time, or don’t have the motivation to get it done. I’m not just talking about weight loss either! These goals can be career, relationship, or personal – it doesn’t matter.
Motivation is your reason for committing to a goal, and sticking to it. A lot of time, we set our goal, we commit to it, but we don’t stick to it. Our motivation ‘wears off’. Motivation is the desire to do something. This month I want to find ways to re-ignite our motivation, so when you feel like you want to give up, or when you are saying ‘I can’t do this’, I want to find resources and info that will change your I CAN’T into I CAN.
I’m really excited to work on motivational posts because I need motivation too! We all have goals that we let slip away because they become too hard, or we lose the drive to get them done.
If you are interested in following along with us, I would love for you to take a look at my SMART Goals. Pick a goal – any goal – and follow the steps in that post. Choose a goal you would love to work on this month, and let’s do it!
Feel free to leave a comment below and tell us what you are working on this month or tell us what you struggle with when you are trying to stay motivated. If at anytime you need help, or advice, please don’t hesitate to contact me! You can find my email here.
