Root beer Barbecue Crockpot Chicken

This Root beer Barbecue Crockpot Chicken recipe only has 3 ingredients. I love crockpot recipes because I can throw the ingredients in the crockpot and then forget about it until it is time to eat. This recipe is so easy and delicious!

I love recipes that require little prep. The fact that this recipe requires only 3 ingredients helps keeps the cost of the meal down too! This meal feeds my family of 4 for under $5! You could also use ginger ale instead of root beer. I bet that would taste great too!
Root beer Barbecue Crockpot Chicken
  • 1 2L bottle of Rootbeer
  • 1 cup of Barbecue sauce
  • 2-4 Chicken Breast
  1. Add chicken and rootbeer to crockpot. Cook on high for 4 hours, or on low for 8 hours.
  2. After the time is up pour out the rootbeer and add the barbecue sauce. Cook for an additional 20 minutes.
  3. Shred the chicken. I used an electric mixer.
  4. Serve on a hot dog bun.

You could just serve the chicken with barbecue sauce after draining the root beer, but we like to shred it and serve it on a hotdog bun. I like mine topped with shredded cheese, mustard, and ketchup! These are fun because it’s kind of like a twist on a sloppy joe sandwich. Since we use chicken the calories and fat are less then a sloppy joe sandwich too.
