I have wanted to run a 5k for years.
After lots of failed attempts I am finally going to start Training for a 5k.
I tried to convince my cousin/sister to do it with me, but it never happened. I tried to do it on my own and I think I got up to being able to do about 20 minutes straight on the treadmill but then I kind of stopped. Then my boyfriend and I tried again, and failed. There are so many excuses but it just comes down to laziness.
I found out the other day that there is going to be a 5k color run in my city – and I’m going to do it. I’ve recruited my boyfriend and my sister and her boyfriend. I WILL do it! I am so excited. I have looked for a color run event near me a few times before but nada. We registered and there is no turning back now.
The run is scheduled for June so that gives us 6 months to train. I’m planning on doing the Couch to 5k program. First inside on the treadmill, there’s about 4 feet of snow out there now and with temperatures even colder then -20 Celsius I am not interested in starting training like that! Then when it warms up at the end of March/beginning of April I’m going to do the program again – outside. It’s a lot easier to run on a treadmill then it is to run outside, so hopefully by completing the program both inside and outside it will give me a good amount of training.
Training for a 5k has been a personal goal of mine for way too long, and it’s also one of my Day Zero goals. I’m determined to complete this goal in 2014.
